There are many tales about the mountain in Harz, Germany. It was said that the Devil had left a long wall there. Sometimes, werewolves could be spotted in the mountain. Every year witches would gather in Harz for the Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis Night), which lasted from April 30th to May 1st. Giants and dwarfs live on this land of fantasy as well, as one might find them petrified in some enormous cave near Rübeland. It was also believed that in one of the mountains, King Friedrich Barbarossa lies in wait. “When he wakes up, Germany will rise to a great nation again,” wrote people in the 19th century.
